Services Scheduled for North Rockland Football Coach Who Died Last Week
Services are being held tomorrow for North Rockland’s head football coach who died last week. Stony Point’s Tom Lynch died at the age of 60 following a bout with cancer. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says he was a leader on the football field and in the classroom…
Lynch went to Clarkstown South High School, and played baseball at Oneonta State. He went on to coach South’s varsity baseball and football teams, before becoming head coach at North Rockland in 2011. Visitation is being held Tuesday from 5-8pm and Wednesday from 4-8pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10am at St. Augustine’s Church in New City. Donations can be made to the Thomas Lynch Memorial Scholarship fund.

The first Rockland baby of 2022 was born at Good Samaritan Hospital. Congratulations go out to Airmont’s Rachel Block and Mendel Werzberger, and baby girl Werzberger. She was born at 2:02 a.m. on January first, weighing 6 pounds 5 ounces and 20 inches long. The first baby born in the New Year at Montefiore Nyack Hospital was a boy who made his arrival on January first at 8:28 a.m.
Orange County Beer Distributor to Offer Free Cab Rides to Prevent Drunk Driving
You might want to jot this down…if you’re out at a bar tonight and had too much to drink, Goshen-based beer distributor Dana Distributors is running their “Alert Cab” program again this year. Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco says they’ll pay for your cab ride home, within a ten-mile radius, you just have to hand your keys to the bartender…
Falco does expect there to be fewer incidents this holiday than in non-COVID years past as he thinks most people will be home for the night instead of going to large gatherings at hotels or bars.
