The city’s soon-to-be former mayor is making one last push for congestion pricing. In one of his last press conferences earlier this week as mayor, Bill de Blasio said the controversial funding plan is necessary to fight the climate crisis, by bringing $15 billion into the city’s mass transit system…

Rockland Assemblyman Mike Lawler says the plan is unfair suburban commuters and he’s introduced legislation to repeal it…

While the exact price of the toll has yet to be set, it’s been suggested to be between $12 and $14 per car and $25 for trucks entering the city below 60th street. The plan could launch in 2023.

North Rockland is mourning the loss of its head football coach. The Journal News says Stony Point’s Tom Lynch, a coach and teacher at North Rockland High school, died Tuesday following a bout with cancer. Lynch went to Clarkstown South High School, and played baseball at Oneonta State. He went on to coach South’s varsity baseball and football teams, before becoming head coach at North Rockland in 2011. He was 60 years old. Funeral service information has not been released.

The Suffern football community is mourning the loss of their former coach, Robert Veltidi, who died on Monday. Thoughts and prayers were sent to Coach Veltidi’s family via the Suffern Football Twitter feed. Veltidi retired from coaching after the 1995 season. Veltidi graduated from Nanuet High School, and taught for 33 years in the Suffern School District. A service is being held tomorrow from 2:00pm-7:00pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern. Veltidi was 74 years old.

The village of Airmont last night narrowly opted “in” to marijuana sales, but decided against permitting lounges. The vote was two to two, until Mayor Nathan Bubel cast the deciding vote…

Two other trustees, deputy mayor Brian Downey and trustee Migdalia Pesante, had voted to opt in completely. Last week, town of Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips told “The Morning Show” that the board may decide to do nothing before year’s-end, thereby opting “in” to the state’s marijuana program by default. If that happens, Haverstraw would be the only Rockland town to opt in.

New Yorkers have until the end of the year to get health insurance coverage that begins January 1st on the health insurance marketplaces through the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. A-A-R-P New York is encouraging anyone who is uninsured, especially if you’re in your 50s and early 60s and not yet eligible for Medicare, to enroll in a plan now. A-A-R-P New York’s Erin Mitchell says many folks can qualify for low- or no-cost health insurance…
