Voters in the Clarkstown Central School District approved a Bond Referendum yesterday on a $110 million capital improvements project. The five-year project covers heating, ventilation and air conditioning, window, flooring and electrical upgrades at all nine of the district’s elementary schools and the Birchwood School. The project got 16-hundred votes, nearly 80 percent. A district spokesman says the bond is tax neutral and will not increase current taxes.

1,500 Attend Pomona Event to Commemorate One-Year Anniversary of Attack on Israel
Rocklanders came out to Clover Stadium in Pomona yesterday to mark the one-year anniversary of the attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists, killing 1,200 people and taking another 250 hostage. The event was held by the Jewish Federation and Foundation of Rockland County. News 12 reported more than 1,500 people came out to the park for the event. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says the evil attack reminds us of the enduring need for vigilance in the face of hatred and violence. On Sunday, Governor Kathy Hochul spoke at the Temple Israel Center in White Plains, and recalled what she had seen when she visited the region shortly after last year’s attack…
Meanwhile, the conflict in the Middle East threatens to expand further, as Reuters reports Iran’s foreign minister warned Israel against attacking them, saying if that happens, they’ll retaliate even stronger. Iran hit Israel with a missile attack last week. Israel has vowed to retaliate.
Internal Issues Plaguing Rockland’s Major Political Parties with Election Day Less Than a Month Away
Both of Rockland’s major parties have picked the worst time to have internal issues, just as a presidential election, and a bunch of local races, are less than a month away. Rockland County Executive, Republican Ed Day says legal issues that have entangled the head of the party, Lawrence Garvey, and the town of Clarkstown, led by Republican supervisor George Hoehmann, need to be set aside so the task at hand can be the focus…
