The Orangetown shooting range and two other businesses that were engulfed in a fire Sunday night into Monday will be demolished next Monday. That’s according to the Journal News. The underground range, known as RISE, and the Dunkin’ Donuts and Dollar General Store above, were severely damaged. Six firefighters suffered smoke inhalation and had to be hospitalized during the blaze on North Middletown Road. A firewall protected other nearby businesses.
COVID Takes Another Rockland Life
COVID has taken another life here in the county. The total now stands at 1,002 since the pandemic began. Other coronavirus statistics continue to slowly creep up, there are 17 hospitalized and 841 active cases.

Area Kids Suffering from Cancer to Benefit from “Happy Fleet” Car Parade in Orangetown This Weekend
Communications students at St. Thomas Aquinas College will lead a police-escorted “Happy Fleet” car parade through a portion of Orangetown this weekend. The 2022 plunge, which takes place next March, will benefit Teagan Walsh, who was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma in July 2018 at just two years old, and Jhenaé Fairclough, who was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma just after her first birthday. The “Happy Fleet” is open to anyone who wants to participate. It starts in the St. Thomas Aquinas College parking lot behind the Library at 1pm on Sunday.
