A fundraiser has been set up to help with the medical expenses for a Clarkstown firefighter injured in a blaze earlier this week. Valley Cottage Fire Department volunteer Ryan Ebner has been intubated and sedated while recovering at Westchester Medical Center for injuries he suffered battling the house fire on Monday at 460 Storms Road. The 24 year-old suffered severe burns to his face and his airway while running the hose line in the basement of the home.
Three Rescued in Monsey After Getting Injured and Lost in Wooded Area
An area volunteer search and rescue team from Ramapo reportedly rescued three people who were hurt and lost in a wooded area of Monsey on Wednesday night. The YeshivaWorld.com says Rockland Chaverim was tending to a person who was seriously injured, and then found two others who were lost nearby. Rockland Hatzolah ambulance transported the first victim to a local hospital. That person was subsequently transferred to Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore. Specific details about where the victims were found and their injuries were not released.
Area Lawmaker Pleased Props 1, 3 & 4 Were Defeated
An area lawmaker is pleased the three propositions on Tuesday’s ballot that aimed to expand voting initiatives in New York went down in defeat. Props 1, 3 and 4 dealt with a host of redistricting issues, would have enacted same-day voter registration, and offered a “no excuse” absentee ballot. Western Ramapo and Orange County Assemblyman Karl Brabenec says passing those proposals would have been detrimental to future elections…
Each proposal was defeated by several hundred-thousand votes.
Orangetown, Spring Valley Police Departments Searching For Missing People
Orangetown Police are looking for a 75 year-old Nyack man who went missing yesterday afternoon. Police say Richard Kendall was last seen around lunchtime yesterday at Pizza Bistro on South Broadway. They think he may be in a neighboring backyard just resting. He is described as a white male, around five-foot seven inches tall, weighing 140 pounds. He has blue eyes, gray hair and was last seen wearing a gray jacket, blue jeans, and possibly a baseball cap. Police say if you see him, you should maintain visual contact of him and call the Orangetown Police Department at 845-359-3700.
The Spring Valley Police Department is looking for a 13 year-old who’s gone missing. Andony Gregorious-Barrios was last seen wearing an orange, long sleeve button-down shirt, orange suspenders, black pants, and black and white sneakers. Report: Former Suffern Police Officer Files Federal Lawsuit Against Department Alleging Gender Discrimination
A former Suffern police officer has reportedly filed a federal lawsuit accusing the department of gender discrimination. She also accuses former colleague, William Osborn, the son of the recently-retired chief, Clarke Osborn, of sending explicit pictures to her. That’s according to LoHud.com. Former Suffern cop Tara Cable says she was pressured to resign this summer after her complaints of gender discrimination and sexual harassment went ignored. Clarke Osborn denied the accusations, and Suffern chief Andrew Loughlin told LoHud he was advised not to comment.
