Heavy storms came rumbling through the county last night…there was a handful of outages in Haverstraw earlier this morning, but those have been resolved. The storms did play havoc with the sports schedule in the region we’ll tackle that in Sports, coming up.
Orangetown, Clarkstown Roads Undergo Resurfacing
The County Highway department will be doing some paving today on Western Highway in Orangeburg, south of Orangeburg Road, where the road will be down to one lane. Convent Road in Nanuet will also be resurfaced as well today and tomorrow…

Company Looking to Bring Battery Energy Storage System to Airmont

The village of Airmont is holding a public hearing on the potential to become host to a Battery Energy Storage System. RWE Solar Development LLC is looking to build it to supplement the O&R electric grid. Former Airmont mayor and village resident Ralph Bracco says he doesn’t think it’s a good idea for that area…
The project is targeting 375 Route 59, near College Road and New County Road. The public hearing was slated for tonight’s Zoning Board of Appeals meeting at village hall, but we’ve gotten word that it’s been postponed. We’ll have more information as soon as it is available.
