An affordable housing development is now open in Nanuet. Vincent’s Village on Convent Road is a $42 million project, more than half that funding came from New York State Homes and Community Renewal. The 55-and-older development has three residential buildings with 93 affordable homes, including 81 one-bedroom units and 12 two-bedroom units. There’s also a custom-designed communal space sponsored by the Sisters of Charity Housing Development Corporation. There are also on-site health and wellness services. The apartments are designed to be affordable to households earning at or below 60 percent of the area’s median income.

Dominican Sisters of Sparkill to Host Fundraiser Event Sunday to Benefit Nyack’s One-to-One Learning
The Dominican Sisters of Sparkill are hosting a fundraising event Sunday to help fund a program they’ve been running for a quarter century that’s dedicated to teaching English to immigrants. STAR-FEST XII is a live concert that’ll stream online to benefit the Nyack group, One-to-One Learning. RCC to Host Cooking Demos for Those Who are Food Insecure
If you’re having trouble putting food on the table, or know a family that is, you may want to take note of a free series of classes being held at RCC’s Hospitality and Culinary Arts Center in Nyack. Mark Davidoff is the Director of the center and will be conducting the cooking demonstrations and lessons along with RCC Hospitality students. Davidoff says the eight-week “Purchasing & Preparing Nutritious Food Economically” program is designed for people who are food insecure, or having difficulty feeding themselves or their families…

Rockland’s County Executive Presents State of the County; Praises County’s Response to COVID
Rockland’s County Executive last night presented his State of the County Address. Ed Day thanked all the county workers that mobilized to make sure residents could get their COVID shots efficiently during the pandemic. He also praised the local company that helped develop the vaccine right here in our backyard…
Day also cited new deals that are bringing new business and jobs to the area…
The State of the County Address is traditionally delivered in February but was delayed this year to allow for increased focus on the roll-out of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Rockland has lost one more to COVID, the total number of deaths is now 975. We have 22 hospitalized and a total of 683 active coronavirus cases.
