Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh announced this afternoon that Debbie Dibernardo, President of Hi-Tor Animal Care Center Inc, has been indicted by a Rockland County Grand Jury for Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree and Falsifying Business Records in the 2nd Degree (17 Counts). Dibernardo was arraigned in Rockland County Court and released on her own recognizance. We’ll have more details Friday during “The Morning Show with Jeff & Will.”
Area State Lawmakers React to Governor’s State-of-the-State Address
New York’s governor announced plans yesterday in her first State of the State address to invest $10 billion in health care and its workforce, replace the state’s Joint Commission on Public Ethics agency with a new, independent agency, and support teachers and rebuild the state’s school system. Governor Kathy Hochul launched measures to combat gun violence and illegal firearms, and pledged $100 million in tax relief for small businesses…

State Assembly Speaker Contracts COVID, Numbers all up in Rockland
State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie didn’t attend yesterday’s State of the State address, as he’s quarantining in his Albany home after testing positive for COVID-19. He says he is symptom-free and urged unvaccinated New Yorkers to get the shot.
The county’s COVID-19 death count since Monday is up four to 1,024. The number of active COVID cases has ballooned from 8,645 to 14,175, and the number of residents in the hospital with confirmed cases of coronavirus is up from 77 to 124, a jump of 47.
LGBTQ Display Damaged at Pearl River High School
Once again, an LGBTQ display at Pearl River High School has been damaged. According to the Journal News, the most recent act was discovered the day school resumed following the holiday break and took place in a teacher’s classroom. Orangetown police were notified of the incident. This was the third time something similar has happened recently at Pearl River High School. A bulletin board for the “Gay Straight Trans Alliance” was vandalized twice in September.
Clarkstown’s First Female Town Justice Sworn In
Clarkstown history made Tuesday when former town attorney Leslie Kahn became the first woman elected as a Clarkstown justice. Elected in November, Kahn said she’s had this goal for a long time…
Justice Kahn was sworn in by long-time Clarkstown Town Justice Craig Johns who retired at the end of December after 28 years on the bench.
