A home on East Railroad Avenue in Haverstraw went up in flames yesterday morning. The blaze spread quickly throughout the structure. No word on any injuries.

NY Governor Calls for National Guard Members to Get Veteran Status
New York’s Governor has proposed legislation that would allow National Guard members to qualify as veterans. Governor Kathy Hochul said Saturday many National Guard members who responded on September 11th, 2001, are not eligible for various support services or federal and state benefits because they were not on federal active duty…
More than 6,700 New York State National Guard members were called to serve in response to and recovery from the terror attacks.
Construction Project on NYS Thruway Expected to Begin Today
The next two months could be a slow-go on the New York State Thruway at the northbound exit 15 ramp to New Jersey starting today. The Thruway Authority says traffic will be reduced to one lane for bridge joint repair work on the ramp. Delays could be heavy during the morning and evening commutes. The Authority suggests motorists that go on the ramp should consider alternate routes.
