Hazardous material, reportedly black mold, was found in several classrooms and has led to the shutdown of an East Ramapo High School for at least the rest of the week. In a note to parents, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Clarence Ellis, said that means students at Spring Valley High School are back to at-home learning for now. It’s not known in which classrooms the material was found. The move also forced the rescheduling of the PSATs and SATs. The district said they would provide additional details on meal distribution, co-curricular activities, and athletic events.
Clarkstown Takes Lead in Race with Orangetown for Rockland’s First Chick-fil-A Franchise
The town of Clarkstown reportedly is a step closer to getting a Chick-fil-A franchise, that would be a first for Rockland. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says the company’s initial plans are being presented to the town planners…

Ramapo Dam Rehab Project Gets Underway
An 80 year-old dam in the town of Ramapo is getting a $1.5 million upgrade. Local officials ceremoniously broke ground on the Lake Suzanne project last week. Located just off Vincent Road in Monsey, the dam was built by a hunting and fishing club that no longer exists. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says it needs to be upgraded to modern standards…
The dam was classified by the State DEC as a “B” Intermediate-Hazard instead of a “C” High-Hazard, which is keeping construction costs lower.
