The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, has honored a Ramapo Police officer after he helped a raccoon who got its head stuck in a can. Officer Chris Byrnes went to a homeowner who had reported seeing the raccoon with its head stuck. Officer Byrnes was able to remove the can and the raccoon scampered off into the woods. It was caught on video, leading PETA rep Moira Colley Monday to give Officer Byrnes and the Ramapo P.D. their “Compassionate Police Department Award” and what was described as a “delicious vegan meal.”

Officials Continue to Call for NY Governor to Step Down in Wake of AG Report
New York governor Andrew Cuomo spent the day out of sight Wednesday, a day after the Attorney General released her independent investigation’s report into sexual harassment allegations against him. The parade of politicians locally and nationally on both sides of the political aisle continued to rain down, urging Cuomo to step down, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. Rockland Assemblyman, Democrat Ken Zebrowski, a member of the Judiciary Committee that’s conducting the Assembly’s impeachment inquiry, says he and the other committee members are combing through the AG’s report…
The AG’s report found that Cuomo sexually harassed at least 11 women. An Associated Press analysis says a majority of state Assembly members would begin impeachment proceedings against the governor if he doesn’t resign. Only a simple majority of the Assembly’s 150 members is needed to start an impeachment trial.
Several District Attorneys in the state have asked for investigative materials from the Attorney General’s office for potential inquiries of their own. DAs from Manhattan, Westchester, Nassau and Albany County all say they are looking at possible criminal violations by the governor.
Cuomo sibling Chris Cuomo is taking heat of his own, for ignoring his brother’s latest scandal. The younger Cuomo hosts a political commentary program on CNN, and for the past two nights has failed to mention it, choosing to focus instead on COVID and other topics.
