A Rockland County man has been charged in a wild fight in a Brooklyn pizza place earlier this month. A video of the incident has gone viral, and 33-year-old Erind Prelvukaj of West Nyack was reportedly arrested and charged with assault. He told WPIX channel 11 several drunk customers were harassing a woman around 3 in the morning on July 17th at Joe’s Pizza on Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg. He said he tried to keep the situation under control, and surveillance video from the pizza shop would prove it.
NY Governor Asks Business to Require Proof of COVID Vaccination
The governor is asking private businesses to require proof of COVID vaccination before letting people into their establishments, particularly bars and restaurants. Andrew Cuomo said the number of daily COVID cases in the state has multiplied four times thanks to the highly contagious delta variant. Those who are fully vaccinated, he said, are less likely to catch the virus, get infected or suffer with severe symptoms.
Two Rockland Performing Arts Groups Getting Grants from NYS Council on the Arts
Two Rockland performing arts groups are getting three grants from the state in an effort to boost live performances since the pandemic. The first of four rounds of grant awards went to 438 performance organizations across New York State through the “Restart NY: Rapid Live Performance Grants” program from the Council on the Arts. One $10,000 grant is going to “Stage Left Childrens Theater” in Tappan. Two $10,000 grants are going to the Penguin Rep Theatre in Stony Point, which supervisor Jim Monaghan says is busy preparing to reopen this weekend…

Two Companies Cited for Violations in Ramapo
Two Ramapo companies are looking at multiple fire and safety code violations, one’s already been shut down by the Rockland Health Department. County Executive Ed Day says an indoor water park at the former Lifeplex complex on College Avenue violated the county’s sanitary codes…
The other business is Motty’s supermarket. Their Route 306 location burned down in February and they started doing business on College Avenue sometime thereafter. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says despite issuing multiple violations, there’s not much the town can do about the new Motty’s…
On Friday’s “Who Wants to be a Volunteer” program, co-host Justin Schwartz said Motty’s poses a danger, the town isn’t dealing harshly enough with it, and the state should come in and take over…
Motty’s is reportedly due to respond to the violations in court later this month.
