Rockland’s Congressman and many in Spring Valley’s Haitian community are slamming the Biden administration’s response to the Mexico border crisis. Thousands of Haitian nationals fleeing political turmoil and natural disasters are being turned away at the Rio Grande. In a statement, Congressman Mondaire Jones said the “unfathomable cruelty that border patrol officers are inflicting on people” at the border “is horrifying and flies in the face of our values as Americans.” The group Rockland County Haiti Relief, meanwhile, continues to try to get goods to Haiti to assist in earthquake relief.
Clarkstown Ranks 49th in Money Magazine’s “Top 50 Best Places to Live”
Money Magazine has ranked the town of Clarkstown as one of the 50 Best Places to Live in the nation. Clarkstown ranked number 49 and was one of only two towns in New York to make the list, with Plainview out on Long Island coming in at 47. The list was restricted to cities and towns that have populations between 25,000 and 500,000 and were ranked based on various stats including economic opportunity, cost of living, housing affordability, arts and leisure options, safety, and more. Clarkstown finished behind Mission Viejo, California which ranked 48th, but ahead of the last one on the list: Paramus, New Jersey. Number one on the list? Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Fundraiser to Support Girls’ Health and Skills Education Being Held Sunday in Orangeburg
A non-profit, after-school program for teenage girls is hosting a wellness day fundraiser in Orangeburg this weekend that stresses the importance of self-care, healthy eating and daily exercise. New City Man Charged with Assault After Young Son Struck by Car
A New City man has been hit with assault and other charges after his young son was struck by a car. Detective Norman Peters of the Clarkstown Police Department says a four year-old boy was hit by a car Monday afternoon after running into the street…
Peters said the boy was conscious, alert, and responding to officers at the scene. 50 year-old Michael Budnick was charged with assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and harassment. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due back in Clarkstown Justice Court October 6th.
