The owner of a Suffern funeral home has pleaded guilty to grand larceny and other charges. Rockland’s D-A says Scarr Funeral Home owner, 54 year-old Leonard Scarr Jr., took more than a half-million dollars from 90 separate victims. Scarr was accused of taking money from clients’ pre-paid escrow accounts that were supposed to pay for funeral services, but instead spent it on himself. He faces up to six years in prison and he’ll pay back his victims when he is sentenced in November.
NYS to Mandate Vaccinations for State Employees, Patient-facing Health Care Workers
New York will mandate COVID vaccinations for all 130,000 state employees and patient-facing health care workers at state hospitals. That is expected to happen around Labor Day. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo says those who don’t get vaccinated will have to be tested…
The governor said state employees will have the option to test regularly instead of getting the vaccine, while the health care workers will not have that option. The governor also urged local governments to require all their employees to get vaccinated or submit to testing. 75 percent of adults in the state have already been vaccinated.

Reports: Monsey Man Killed in Ukraine Plane Crash
A Monsey man was reportedly among several others who were killed in a plane crash in Ukraine yesterday. The Yeshiva World reports Amrom Fromowitz was killed along with three others when a sightseeing plane ride crashed into a private house in Western Ukraine. It’s not clear what caused the plane to crash. The house was reportedly empty when the accident occurred.
