In Little League Softball…the South Orangetown softball team is heading to the Little League World Series in Greenville, North Carolina. They’re one of two teams representing the East region after beating Robbinsville, New Jersey, little league 2-0 earlier this week in Bristol, Connecticut. The World Series is being held August 11th-18th.
Boulders Drop Two More to Tri-City ValleyCats Wednesday
In Frontier League baseball…the New York Boulders played games two and three of their four-game road trip against the Tri-City ValleyCats at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy yesterday. In game one, the Boulders were down five-nothing in the 6th, but that’s when they started making some noise of their own…
And that was Joe Mixie with the call courtesy of the Tri-City ValleyCats radio network. The Boulders scored four in the sixth and cut the lead to one, but would go on to lose 8-7.
In game two, the ValleyCats got to scoring early in their half of the first, with the bases loaded, one out, and a drive hit deep into right-centerfield…
The ValleyCats would go on to win, 6-5. They’ve taken the first three of this four-game series. They play again today at 11am.

They were supposed to play a doubleheader but thunderstorms delayed the start of the game, so they only played one. The Boulders were down early, and with a 6-0 lead in the 4th, the ValleyCats felt they needed some insurance…
And that was Joe Mixie with the call courtesy of the Tri-City ValleyCats radio network. It was all downhill for the Boulders from there, and not in a good way. The final 12-1, Boulders lose. They’ll try to get in a doubleheader today.
Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site to Host an “Evening Battlefield Lantern Tour” Saturday Night
The Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site is hosting an “Evening Battlefield Lantern Tour” Saturday night. The Battle of Stony Point, which took place on July 16, 1779, was a turning point in the Revolutionary War, and Supervisor Jim Monaghan says its re-creation is stunning…
The State Historic site is located at 44 Battlefield Road in Stony Point. Registration for the event is required, it’s being held Saturday at 8pm, the cost for adults is $5. Call 845-786-2521 to register and for more information.
COVID-19 Delta Variant Confirmed in Rockland County
The COVID-19 Delta variant has been found in Rockland County. The Rockland Health Department has confirmed at least four cases of the highly contagious variant were found during the second week of July. The rate of cases and the positivity rate in Rockland have increased over the last several weeks, likely due to the Delta variant. Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert urge those who are not yet vaccinated to get vaccinated for COVID-19 as soon as possible. They say unvaccinated individuals have accounted for nearly all recent COVID deaths, the total number standing at 968.
