A Bergen County doctor faces 20 years in prison and more than a $1 million in fines after admitting yesterday to distributing opioids without legitimate medical reasons and falsifying medical records. 45 year-old Robert Delagente of Oakland, New Jersey, who U-S prosecutors in Newark said described himself as the “Candy Man” and the “El Chapo of Opioids,” prescribed the drugs without ever seeing patients or discussing their medical needs.
