As the sun comes out and temperatures melt the snow from Tuesday’s snowstorm, the opportunity for slippery sidewalks and roadways increases as it all re-freezes. It’s a phenomenon known as “black ice,” and Rockland County Executive Ed Day urges those who are out walking to be extra careful, because as he knows from experience, a simple slip and fall can turn into a major injury very quickly…
Also don’t forget to make sure your car’s windows are clear of any snow or ice before you drive off. And though it’s just a violation with a minimal fine in New York State, it’s safer and courteous to others on the roads if you clear everything off the roof of your car or out of the flatbeds of a pickup truck, as well.
