A Suffern man who teaches public school in Queens is accused of sexually abusing a child in South Blooming Grove. Published reports say police are concerned there may be other victims. 43 year-old David Reinoso was arrested Friday and sent to the Orange County jail. Bail was set at $5,000 cash / $15,000 bond / $30,000 partially secured bond. He is reportedly a teacher in Jackson Heights. He faces charges of first-degree sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. Several Rockland Villages Holding Elections Today
Wesley Hills’ vote will take place from 6:00am to 9:00pm at Village Hall, located at 432 Route 306. Up for election this year are two Village Trustees positions and Village Justice.
New Hempstead’s elections are from 9:00 am – 9:00 pm at Village Hall located at 108 Old Schoolhouse Road in New City. On the ballot are the incumbent Mayor Abe Sicker, Deputy Mayor Shalom Mintz and Trustee Jennifer Eisenstein.
The village of Pomona is also reportedly holding elections today. Details were not available.
State Police Investigating Fatal Crash on PIP in Rockland
New York State Police from Haverstraw and Monroe say one was killed in a one-car crash Saturday morning on the Palisades Parkway near exit ten northbound. Police say the accident occurred around 11:20, with the car’s lone occupant declared dead at the scene. Police say weather appears to be the cause of the crash. This is an ongoing investigation. State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or observed the vehicle, a white Tesla with New Jersey plates traveling North on the parkway, prior to the crash, please contact Investigator Eric Haydt at the Haverstraw Bureau of Criminal Investigation at 845-364-9424.
Clarkstown Votes to Ban Short Term Rentals in Single, Two-family, and Multi-family Homes
The Town of Clarkstown voted Tuesday to ban short-term rentals, less than 29 days, on single, two-family, and multi-family homes. That’s according to RCBIZJournal.com. Several Brooklyn men have been indicted for the New City shooting incident in late January. Rockland’s D.A. said the defendants opened fire on a single-family home that had been rented out. There were several people in the home, but no one was hurt. Law enforcement was able to secure several illegal weapons in the incident.
Fire Strikes 7-Floor Apartment Building in Spring Valley, No Injuries Reported
Fire erupted early yesterday afternoon in a 7-floor high rise in Spring Valley. The Country Village Tower located at 101 Kennedy Drive, across from Spring Valley High School, was reported on fire around 1pm. Video posted to TheYeshivaWorld.com showed flames coming from a 7th floor apartment, and people were reportedly trapped inside at the time. The Journal News said 14 families living on the seventh floor were displaced, and several had to be rescued from the flames, including a two year-old. He and three others were taken to area hospitals. The cause of the fire was undetermined Wednesday and under investigation by a Spring Valley fire inspector.
