Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh announced this afternoon that Debbie Dibernardo, President of Hi-Tor Animal Care Center Inc, has been indicted by a Rockland County Grand Jury for Offering a False Instrument for Filing in the 1st Degree and Falsifying Business Records in the 2nd Degree (17 Counts). Dibernardo was arraigned in Rockland County Court and released on her own recognizance. We’ll have more details Friday during “The Morning Show with Jeff & Will.”

Area State Lawmakers React to Governor’s State-of-the-State Address
New York’s governor announced plans yesterday in her first State of the State address to invest $10 billion in health care and its workforce, replace the state’s Joint Commission on Public Ethics agency with a new, independent agency, and support teachers and rebuild the state’s school system. Governor Kathy Hochul launched measures to combat gun violence and illegal firearms, and pledged $100 million in tax relief for small businesses…

Rockland to Embark on Business Education Efforts over Governor’s Indoor Mask Mandate
Rockland’s County Executive is expecting to use a million dollars in state grant money to beef up the health department’s education outreach to local businesses on the state’s recent COVID indoor mask mandate. Area media have been reporting the county is going to increase enforcement of the mask mandate, but County Executive Ed Day called “The Morning Show” yesterday to say the health department won’t be moving away from the vaccination effort to start handing out fines for mask infractions…
Day encourages people to voluntarily wear masks to be better protected against COVID. The state’s indoor mask mandate is expected to run to at least February first.

Stony Point to Host State COVID-19 Testing Site Starting Tuesday
Rockland is getting a state-run COVID-19 testing site and it is scheduled to open tomorrow. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says tomorrow at noon, the state COVID testing site will open at the Patriot Hills Golf Club in Stony Point. Governor Kathy Hochul says there are plenty of additional sites open around the state…
Operating hours after tomorrow’s noon opening in Stony Point will be Monday through Saturday from 8 AM – 6 PM and you must make an appointment. Patriot Hills site appointments can be made online here. To find other sites near you, click here.
Rockland is also getting more COVID tests to distribute to local school districts. New York’s Director of State Operations Kathryn Garcia says the state ordered more than 37 million at-home test kits and got the first shipment of about 5.3 million late last week…
The test kits that go to the school districts will be sent to classmates of kids that have tested positive. County Executive Day says future test kit deliveries will be used by populations outside of the school districts.
Meanwhile, the county’s death count since Thursday is up four to 1,020. The number of active COVID cases is up from 5,850 to 8,645, but we have fewer in the hospital with COVID, the total is 77, and that’s down six.
