A one year-old Spring Valley boy is dead and his mother faces a felony charge after he was found wedged between a bed and a wall and just his six-year-old sibling watching him. Spring Valley Police say the unidentified 36 year-old woman was arrested Saturday and charged with Manslaughter. Around 8:40 Saturday night police and fire officials responded to 101 Kennedy Drive after the one-year-old became trapped between a bed and the wall and was unresponsive. Life-saving measures were performed, and he was taken to Nyack Hospital where he later died.

Man Found Dead in Spring Valley Park
The Spring Valley Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a man was found dead at an area park. Police say the man was unresponsive and declared dead at the scene on Memorial Park Drive near the pool area early Thursday morning. Time.com says 2020 was one of the worst years for gun violence on record in America, and it’s continued into 2021. They say stats show 19,402 gun fatalities in 2020 during the pandemic, while in 2019, there were nearly 4,000 fewer.
New York Celebrates Reaching 70 Percent Vaccinated Threshold
With the state having eclipsed the 70 percent vaccinated threshold yesterday, the governor lifted many of New York’s COVID restrictions. However, CDC guidelines are still in effect in many situations. People who aren’t vaccinated must still wear a mask. And large-scale indoor events venues, schools, public transit, homeless shelters, jails, nursing homes, adult care facilities and health care settings must continue to follow the CDC’s existing COVID-19 health protocols.
The celebration of the 70 percent milestone saw many state landmarks, including the Tappan Zee Bridge, illuminated in blue and gold last night. Memorial Park in Nyack and nine other locations across the state blasted fireworks, as well. The celebrations also honored New York’s essential workers.
