A Rockland County man has reportedly been charged with participating in the riot in the nation’s capital earlier this month. Published reports said 44 year-old Christopher Kelly of New City is accused by the FBI with obstructing an official proceeding, aiding and abetting, unlawfully entering a restricted building or grounds, and violent entry and disorderly conduct. It’s not clear if he had been taken into custody, and he could not be reached for comment.

On top of all that, the governor’s request to have the state purchase vaccines direct from Pfizer was denied by the company. In a statement Pfizer said they would need federal permission before selling the vaccine, and they are open to working with the department of Health and Human Services to find a distribution model that gets the vaccine to more Americans quickly.

New York’s governor announced yesterday the opening of several new state-run vaccination sites at SUNY Stony Brook, Aqueduct Racetrack, SUNY Potsdam and Plattsburgh International Airport, but not one yet here in the county. Stronger UK Strain of COVID Found in Westchester, Rockland Officials Frustrated with NYS Vaccine Plan
There are now 18 known cases of the stronger UK strain of the COVID-19 virus in New York, the most recent one was found in Westchester. Over the weekend the governor continued to blame the feds for a lack of vaccine here in the state, and on top of that, the state’s website is giving people major headaches when it comes to registering for an appointment. In other parts of the state, North Rockland and Orange County state senator James Skoufis says he hears vials of vaccine are going unused, calling the whole situation “incredibly troublesome”…
