Malls in NYS’s Phase Four Permitted to Open on Friday, July 10th
Malls are now included in Phase Four re-openings and starting tomorrow can open once again. In a press conference earlier today, New York governor Andrew Cuomo said malls with the right filtration systems can re-open.
“The Governor’s announcement was great news for Pyramid’s tenants, their employees, our own employees, and all of the people living in the communities where our properties are located. With proper precautions in place and health and safety a top priority, we look forward to restoring our centers to their dominant positions as the economic drivers of their respective regions,” said Pyramid Management Group in a statement.
Rockland County Executive Ed Day said he was pleased with the Governor’s announcement.
“Continuing to subject the hundreds of small businesses that operate within the Palisades Center and elsewhere around New York State to unfair and unnecessary regulation would have had devastating economic consequences. These spaces are reopening with significant additional precautions in place to protect the health and safety of employees and customers,” Day said.
No Injuries After Early-Morning Fire in Hillcrest
No injuries reported after a house fire in Hillcrest early this morning. Six companies from Hillcrest, Spring Valley, Monsey, Nanuet and New City responded to the Ibeck Court blaze. No word on the cause of the fire.
NYS Police Investigating Death of Spring Valley Man Near PIP Friday Night
New York State Police are investigating the death of a Spring Valley man who was struck and killed late Friday night while walking along the southbound lanes of the Palisades Parkway near exit 12. Police say 47 year-old Genoval Gonzalez Quintana, was struck and killed by a car. The driver was returning home from work when the incident occurred. No charges have been filed in the ongoing investigation.
Suffern Man Drowns in Ramapo River
A Suffern man drowned early this morning after going for a swim in the Ramapo River. Suffern Police say two men were running frantically along the banks of the river near the Suffern Athletic Fields and told police they thought the man, their brother, had gone home. After realizing he had not gone home, they found his personal belongings near the river. Police and several area fire departments found the unidentified 33 year-old in the water. No additional information was available.
