No injuries reported after a house fire in Hillcrest early this morning. Six companies from Hillcrest, Spring Valley, Monsey, Nanuet and New City responded to the Ibeck Court blaze. No word on the cause of the fire.

NYS Police Investigating Death of Spring Valley Man Near PIP Friday Night
New York State Police are investigating the death of a Spring Valley man who was struck and killed late Friday night while walking along the southbound lanes of the Palisades Parkway near exit 12. Police say 47 year-old Genoval Gonzalez Quintana, was struck and killed by a car. The driver was returning home from work when the incident occurred. No charges have been filed in the ongoing investigation.
Suffern Man Drowns in Ramapo River
A Suffern man drowned early this morning after going for a swim in the Ramapo River. Suffern Police say two men were running frantically along the banks of the river near the Suffern Athletic Fields and told police they thought the man, their brother, had gone home. After realizing he had not gone home, they found his personal belongings near the river. Police and several area fire departments found the unidentified 33 year-old in the water. No additional information was available.
House Party in Rockland Allegedly Sparks COVID-19 Cluster
Another house party with young people has created a new COVID-19 cluster, this time right here in Rockland. The County Health Department is trying to contain the cluster which is believed to have started at a house party last month at a home in Clarkstown. Rockland Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert said the host was sick and spread the virus to at least eight guests, and they’ve been avoiding her contact tracers during their investigation…
County Executive Ed Day says he will not let anyone compromise the health of Rockland residents, and subpoenas are being issued to those who don’t speak with the Health Department…
Violators face fines of $2,000 a day if they don’t cooperate.
COVID-19 by the numbers now, in Rockland, we’ve got 5 in the hospital being checked out, another 5 confirmed with coronavirus. The state says we’ve got 13,602 reported cases, and the Rockland Health Department confirms 668 fatalities here in the county, no increase since yesterday.
South Nyack Reschedules Nyack College Board of Trustees Meeting for Today at 12:30
As quickly as it was scheduled, it was cancelled. The South Nyack Village Board meeting that was announced late Monday night for early Tuesday afternoon to address the Nyack College situation was called off and now it’s been rescheduled for today. Concern has been growing in and around the village about what may or may not be in line to replace Nyack College, which shut its campus and relocated students into the city last December. No buyer has been officially revealed by the college or the village of South Nyack, where the college is located, but rumors have been swirling, much to the concern of the properties’ neighbors. The meeting is being held via teleconference at 12:30 this afternoon. There will be no open session at today’s event, but that will take place at the next regularly scheduled Board of Trustees Meeting on July 14th.
