A Monsey man with no known medical conditions has reportedly become the latest coronavirus victim here in Rockland. The Yeshiva World says the 39 year-old bus driver tested positive earlier this week and was quarantined at home. He went to Good Samaritan Hospital after suffering shortness of breath yesterday morning and died later in the day.

Rockland Issues ‘Standing Isolation Order’
Rockland County’s Health Commissioner has issued a ‘Standing Isolation Order’ which directs people who test positive for the coronavirus to stay home for specific periods of time, depending on the symptoms. Woman Killed in Early Morning House Fire in West Nyack
A woman was killed this morning after a house fire in West Nyack. Clarkstown Police say the fire consumed the home at 9 Wheeler Place just before 6am. West Nyack firefighters found an adult female victim and extinguished the fire. The victim’s family is being notified. The fire is under investigation.
Nanuet Fire Clogs Route 59 Tuesday Afternoon
A usually busy stretch of Route 59 in Nanuet was clogged yesterday after a fire at a nearby business. Clarkstown Police say heavy smoke was coming from the Thruway Deli, where the fire is believed to have started and which suffered the most damage. The deli was closed and unoccupied at the time. The Nanuet Fire Engine Company extinguished the blaze, one volunteer suffered a minor injury but was treated and cleared at the scene by the Nanuet Community Ambulance Corp. 3rd Coronavirus Death Reported in Rockland; NYS on “PAUSE”
Rockland County Executive Ed Day and County Health Commissioner Dr. Patricia Schnabel Ruppert are warning of the widespread confirmation of COVID-19 in Rockland. The cases are rising dramatically each day, and it is expected this trend will continue. Currently, there are 230 positive cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Rockland County.
A third death occurred on March 18th, within Rockland County due to COVID-19. The decedent was 85 years old and had other significant health problems.
“As the case numbers continue to rise as testing continues to increase, it is now clear that COVID-19 is widespread within our community. I implore you to stay home to curb the spread of the disease. Your choices now and throughout this outbreak will make the difference between life and death for members of our community,” said Dr. Ruppert.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that New York State would be going under ‘PAUSE,’ a policy, which stands for Policies that Assure Uniform Safety for Everyone. This will place more restrictions on the entire state population and includes the cancellation of all non-essential gatherings of individuals of any size for any reason.
