A Rockland woman will spend the next 4-12 years in prison after being convicted of a fatal gas explosion in 2015 at 121 Second Avenue in Manhattan. Two were killed and 13 seriously injured when the building and two others nearby collapsed. Manhattan’s D-A says 59 year-old Maria Hrynenko and two others were found guilty of second degree manslaughter and other charges last November. Hrynenko owned the building which had an illegal gas hook-up.

Haverstraw Man Lands on FBI “Most Wanted” List
Haverstraw Police say the FBI has added a Stony Point man to their Ten Most Wanted list. Eugene Palmer is wanted in the September 2012 shooting death of Tammy Palmer, his daughter-in-law. Palmer, who would be 80 years old now, is believed to be alive and living under an alias. The FBI said at a news conference today they believe Palmer — considered armed and dangerous – could be living in upstate New York, Florida or possibly in another country. The FBI’s reward for Palmer is now at $100,000. Palmer’s sons have said their father likely died in the woods of Harriman State Park.
Police: West Nyack Man Dies While Jogging at Clarkstown South High School Track
Clarkstown Police say a 50 year-old West Nyack man was found dead at the track at Clarkstown High School South this morning. Police were called around 1 this morning by the unidentified man’s wife. He had left their home at 8:30 pm, Saturday evening, to jog around the track. Clarkstown patrol units found the man unresponsive, on the side of the track. Rockland Paramedics pronounced the man deceased. The man’s body was taken by the Rockland County Medical Examiner’s Office. The investigation into this incident is ongoing but nothing at this point reveals any signs of foul play.
Sloatsburg Man Killed After Collision with Car While Riding Lawnmower on Route 17 Identified
Ramapo Police say one of two Sloatsburg brothers who were riding a
lawnmower on Route 17 Sunday night has died of his injuries following a
collision with a car. The accident took place near the intersection of
Washington Avenue. 29 year-old Richard Mackey died yesterday morning. His brother 30 year-old Raymond Mackey, who was believed to be operating the lawnmower at the time, reportedly remains in critical condition. Ramapo Police say they attempted to cross Route 17 and were struck by a 2006 Honda travelling southbound. The driver remained on scene and was
cooperating with police. The Ramapo Police Crash Investigation Unit and
the Detective Bureau are investigating the incident. No charges have been
filed.
Sloatsburg Man Dies After Collision with Car While Riding Lawnmower on Route 17
Ramapo Police say one of two unidentified Sloatsburg brothers who were riding a lawnmower on Route 17 last night has died of his injuries following a collision with a car. The accident took place near the intersection of Washington Avenue. Police say the two men, a 29 year-old and a 30 year-old, attempted to cross Route 17 into traffic and were struck by a 2006 Honda travelling southbound. The Honda driver remained on scene and cooperated with police. Rockland Paramedics and Sloatsburg EMTs treated and transported the men to Hackensack Medical Center. RPD’s Crash Investigation Unit, along with the Ramapo Detective Bureau, is currently investigating. No charges have been filed.
