NYC Migrants Federal Case Against Rockland County Dismissed
Rockland’s County Executive and County Attorney say a New York Civil Liberties Union federal lawsuit against the county has been dismissed. The county’s Executive Order issued last spring prevented New York City or anyone else from taking migrants who arrived in the city and sending them to Rockland to house them in area hotels, in violation of local laws. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says Mayor Eric Adams overstepped his authority last year by luring migrants and asylum seekers out of the city with predatory marketing and advertising and turning Rockland hotels into city-run shelters…
Dozens of counties in New York State did the same as Rockland by declaring their own states of emergency, as well. Adams has since called for the federal government to do more to assist the city in handling the migrant crisis.
Israel’s Prime Minister Addresses Congress
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed a joint meeting of Congress yesterday and pledged to achieve “total victory” against Hamas and denounced American war protestors as “useful idiots,” calling critics of his conduct of the war supporters of Hamas. While Netanyahu did not mention the on-going peace negotiations, Rockland Congressman Mike Lawler of the 17th district told “The Morning Show” Tuesday, peace can only be achieved when Hamas releases the remaining hostages…
Netanyahu is scheduled to meet with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris today, and with former President Donald Trump in Florida on Friday.

Rockland Legislator Supports Kamala Harris for President as DNC Delegate
A Rockland County Legislator will be among the 300 New York Democratic Party delegates at the National Convention next month in Chicago. Beth Davidson is the District 10 legislator, covering parts of Clarkstown and the Village of Nyack, and she told News 12 she’s backing Kamala Harris for president. Meanwhile, U.S. stock markets did well yesterday, largely unaffected by the announcement Sunday that president Joe Biden would be bowing out of the race. The S&P 500 jumped 1.1%, breaking a three-day losing streak. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.3%, and the Nasdaq went up 1.6%. Could things change with vice-president Kamala Harris at the top of the ticket? WRCR market analyst Ken Mahoney of Mahoney Asset Management in Chestnut Ridge says Harris may have a credibility issue to deal with…
Whether that affects markets at all remains to be seen. Yesterday, Harris secured the endorsement of Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who took herself out of the conversation for V-P. House Speaker Republican Mike Johnson suggested legal action could be in the works, claiming Biden was chosen by the people in the primary, though because the convention hasn’t been held yet, he still wasn’t the official candidate for president, when he stepped aside.
