Ramapo Police are looking for the driver of a car that struck a woman, killing her Sunday night and leaving the scene. Police say the 52 year-old Monsey woman was reported missing around 12:30 early Monday morning. She was last seen Sunday evening. Police found her body near West Carlton Road in Monsey. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht identified her as Miriam Sussman. Specht says police are still investigating the incident, but he wants everyone in town to know that free reflector sashes are available at town hall so that pedestrians can be better seen if they happen to be walking at night…

The sashes can be picked up for free at the supervisor’s office at Ramapo Town Hall. Meanwhile, a description of the vehicle was not available. Anyone who has any information about the crash is asked to contact the Ramapo Police Department at 845-357-2400.

New legislative district maps have been signed and approved for Rockland. County Executive Ed Day had told “The Morning Show” before he signed them, after they were approved by the legislature, that there were several factors that went into his review…

Rockland’s 17 legislative districts did not undergo major changes. The new districts will be put into effect starting in January 2024. Legislators are up for election next November.

Phase three of a three-part community infrastructure project in West Nyack got a financial boost from federal and state grants. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says parts one and two covered the Klein Avenue Levee Improvement Project and improvements to a park across from the West Nyack post office…

Rockland Congressman Mondaire Jones secured $1 million in federal infrastructure funding for the project…

Rockland State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick chipped in $180,000 in state funding to improve walkability and pedestrian safety…

20 or so people are homeless after a fire Sunday night in Chestnut Ridge. The single-family home, located on the corner of Route 45 and Old Nyack Turnpike, was reportedly being used illegally as a rooming house by the United Talmudical Academy, which runs schools in Spring Valley, Airmont, Kiryas Joel and the city. That’s according to the Journal News. No one was reported injured in the blaze, but a dog was said to be the fire’s only casualty. Rockland Fire and Emergency Services Coordinator Chris Kear says there was heavy fire coming from the second floor windows when the Spring Valley Fire Department arrived around 9:30 pm Sunday night…

The Journal News says the cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation fire unit and the Chestnut Ridge Building Department.

Fire engulfed a home last night in Chestnut Ridge and now 20 people are reportedly left homeless. News 12 says fire officials found no working smoke detectors, multiple space heaters and electrical issues in the house, located on Chestnut Ridge Road, near the corner of Old Nyack Turnpike and village hall. The residents were taken to the Salvation Army facility in Spring Valley and are being assisted by the Red Cross. No word on the cause or any injuries.
