A 51 year-old woman was arrested yesterday in connection with a house fire in Airmont. Ramapo Police say no one was injured in the blaze which was quickly put out by the Tallman Fire Department with mutual aid from departments from Hillcrest, Monsey, Sloatsburg, Spring Valley and Mahwah. The unidentified woman was charged with Arson and Criminal Mischief. She was arraigned in Airmont Court and released without bail. She is due back in court at a later date.

Low-hanging Power Lines Shut Thruway through Rockland between Exits 12 and 14 (UPDATE – Roadway Re-opened at 3:55pm)
UPDATE 3:59pm: All detours in Rockland County have been lifted. All southbound I-87 lanes are now open. The northbound left and center lanes are also open however, the right lane remains closed. There are delays in both directions.
EARLIER: The NYS Thruway Authority says due to low-hanging power lines, all lanes on the Thruway (I-87/I-287) between exit 12 in West Nyack and exit 14 in Nanuet are closed in both directions. Motorists should plan for extended delays and are advised to seek alternate routes. Northbound traffic must exit at exit 12 (West Nyack – NY Route 303 – Palisades Center Drive) and southbound traffic must exit at exit 14 (Spring Valley – Nanuet – NY Route 59). Updates will be posted as they become available. Traffic is very heavy on the northbound side backed up onto the TZ Bridge, and southbound through Monsey. Route 59 between Spring Valley and West Nyack is also experiencing heavy traffic volume.
Nanuet High School Closed Today Due to Sewer Discharge Issue
A sewer discharge problem at Nanuet High School has forced the cancellation of classes today. The district says classes were cancelled for grades 9-12 and there is no access to the high school property for after-school activities. Nanuet elementary and middle school students return tomorrow, their buildings were not affected. Tonight’s Board of Education Meeting has also been cancelled, the next meeting will be held Tuesday, September 20th.
NYS Thruway Re-opened After Fatal Wrong Way Accident in Harriman
All southbound lanes on the New York State Thruway are now clear as State Police have wrapped up their investigation of a fatal wrong-way accident. Police say it happened near Exit 16 in Harriman around 1:00 this morning. Police say the initial investigation found a passenger vehicle was driving northbound in the southbound lanes between Exit 15A in Sloatsburg and Exit 16 in Harriman when it struck another passenger vehicle head-on. No one else was injured. We’ll have more details as soon as they are available.
Report: Four Killed in Crash in Southbound PIP
Four people were reportedly killed in a crash overnight on the southbound Palisades Parkway in New Jersey. That’s according to News 12. The roadway near Englewood Cliffs has since be re-opened after being shut down earlier this morning for the police investigation.
