The Spring Valley man charged with the fatal stabbing of a Finkelstein Memorial Library security officer was released from jail in December on an attempted rape count when Rockland prosecutors didn’t indict him and failed to ask for a preliminary bail hearing, the chief public defender told the Journal News. 25 year-old Blanchard Glaudin is currently jailed without bail, charged with second-degree murder for killing Sandra Wilson last week after she reportedly told him to turn down his music. Glaudin’s release appears then to have nothing to do with the criminal justice and bail reforms enacted the first of the year. New York law says a person charged with a felony crime can’t be held longer than six days without a preliminary bail hearing or indictment. Rockland’s D-A, who was not the D-A at the time, is reportedly investigating the circumstances that led to Glaudin’s release, he could not be reached for comment. Funeral services for Wilson are today and the library is open again.
