New City Man Being Held Without Bail in Fatal Shooting of Haverstraw Funeral Home GM
A New City man is being held without bail for fatally shooting the general manager of a Haverstraw funeral home where he was formerly employed. 60 year old Gerard O’Sullivan was charged with second-degree murder. He’s accused of confronting Noah Hamer in the rear parking lot of T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home last Thursday evening. O’Sullivan had been shot and wounded by an unidentified civilian with a licensed handgun prior to police arriving on the scene. O’Sullivan was arraigned over the weekend at Westchester Medical Center, where he had been taken for treatment. He is due back in Haverstraw Village Justice Court on Wednesday.
Police Raid in Suffern Nets Drugs and Weapons
Suffern Police, the Rockland Drug Task Force and Rockland SWAT team used a no-knock warrant to raid a Suffern man’s home and found lots of drugs and weapons late last week. At a press conference Friday, Suffern Police Chief Clarke Osborn said a neighbor’s report of drug paraphernalia in the street, just blocks away from the police station, led to the raid of Gustavo Roche’s home on Prairie Avenue…
Rockland District Attorney Tom Walsh said the number of overdoses in the county from 2018-2019 has been going up, and arrests like this will help bring those numbers down…
Police say Roche is a six-time convicted felon, primarily for narcotics and weapons possession. He is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon, and criminal possession of stolen property. He was sent to the Rockland County Jail based on his past felony convictions.
Hillburn Bridge Reopens Following Repair Project
The 4th Street Railroad Bridge in Hillburn has been re-opened following a desperately-needed, three months-long renovation project. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says though the bridge is located in the village, it was the town’s responsibility to fix it…
The bridge connects Hillburn to Orange Turnpike on one end and Terrace Avenue on the other.
