A Spring Valley man who was training to be a U.S Customs and Border Patrol agent was fatally shot at a Georgia bar over the weekend. Published reports said Ruben Valmond, an Albertus Magnus High School graduate, was killed during an altercation. Two were arrested in the shooting.

Two Injured in Sunday Haverstraw Shooting
Two Haverstraw men suffered minor injuries after a shooting in West Haverstraw Sunday night. LoHud says it’s not clear what led to the shooting or who did it. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Sunday near 25 East Railroad Avenue. The 23 year-old and 19 year-old victims were not identified.
Report: North Rockland Teacher Convicted in Harassment Case
A North Rockland special education teacher faces a year in jail or three years’ probation after being convicted of harassment involving a disabled student. LoHud.com says 46 year-old Yessenia Vasquez, a special ed teacher at Stony Point Elementary school, was convicted earlier this year in a different case, and she served 15 days. She’ll be sentenced in February.
Bradley Corporate Park to Get Face Lift
Orangetown’s out-going supervisor expects the Bradley Corporate Park to get a major face lift from its new owners. Bradley Corporate Park is a 1.2 million-square-foot complex of 17 buildings on about 180 acres off Route 303 in Blauvelt. Supervisor Chris Day expects they’ll be putting in lots of money to improve the area…
Trade publication “Commercial Property Executive” has reported the property was sold last May to Angelo Gordon and Onyx Equities with $94 million provided by Bank of America. Former owner John Magee sold the property to satisfy creditors in a separate bankruptcy case.
Nyack Trustee Joins State Senate Race
Nyack village Trustee Elijah Reichlin-Melnick has announced he’s running for the Senate’s 38th District, the seat currently held by state Senator David Carlucci. He’s running for Nita Lowey’s congressional seat. Clarkstown Town Clerk Justin Sweet is also running for Carlucci’s state senate seat.
