Tolls on bridges north of Rockland County, including the Bear Mountain and the Newburgh-Beacon, could be on the rise, but when or how much is up in the air. Governor Andrew Cuomo slammed the New York State Bridge Authority which is looking to boost revenue by $22 million through increased tolls on five upstate bridges it controls. Rockland and Westchester state senator David Carlucci says the state has too many out-of-control authorities doing what they want…

The increased tolls would help fund capital improvement plans for the bridges. The other three bridges in this proposal include the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Mid-Hudson Bridge between Poughkeepsie and Highland, the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, which connects Hudson and Catskill. The Tappan Zee bridge is part of the Thruway Authority.

A Bergen County woman whose young daughter was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered by her neighbor, who then dumped her body in Harriman State Park over 45 years ago, is hosting a Holiday Party fundraiser at her Hillsdale home tonight to urge lawmakers to pass stronger child safety laws. Rosemarie D’Alessandro has been working on a bill named after Pearl River teen Paula Bohovesky, who was murdered in 1980 while she was walking home…

Kids playing an online video game led the Clarkstown school district to put Felix Festa Middle School on lockdown last month. Supervisor George Hoehmann told “The Morning Show” yesterday a Clarkstown student was involved in the hoax…

The Clarkstown Police Detective Bureau identified a 15 year-old boy from the country of Chile as the one who called the Middle School claiming there was a gunman inside. Clarkstown Police Detective Peter Walker says he and an unidentified Clarkstown student had met while playing a video game on the internet…

The case against the Clarkstown student will be handled in Youth Court but police say they are unable to extradite the teen from Chile. There were no injuries involved in the incident.

A 33 year-old suspect briefly escaped custody while at the Rockland County Courthouse yesterday afternoon. Clarkstown police say Christopher Palumbo was captured shortly thereafter. No word specifically on why he was in court, but Palumbo is reportedly a veteran who was arrested back in 2014 on weapon possession charges in New York City. He was reportedly in Rockland with the New York State Police Mental Health Office under the Rockland Psychiatric Center’s supervision.
