The New City man whose 1-year-old twins died in an overheated car while he was at work is still facing second-degree manslaughter and other charges. 39 year-old Juan Rodriguez was in court in the Bronx yesterday, and learned that no grand jury action has been taken on the case yet. No Movement Yet at Former Stony Point Sheetrock Plant Sold Last Year
No nibbles yet for the U.S. Gypsum property in North Rockland that was sold last summer. The German company that took over the Chicago-based U.S. Gypsum, which closed its Stony Point plant nine years ago, still hasn’t made any plans for the property. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says it would be great if the plant could be back on the tax rolls and creating jobs for the area…
Monaghan says there are some environmental issues that have to be cleaned up. The plant once produced sheetrock and employed up to 300 people until it closed in 2010.

Holocaust Museum to Bury Ashen Remains of Holocaust Victims in Monsey Ceremony
The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education will be burying the ashen remains of victims of the Holocaust in Monsey after they were recently found in a box in their archives. The Museum was doing inventory when they found the ashes from mass graves at the Chelmno death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. The remains are just a fraction of the at least 172,000 victims of Chelmno, the first stationary death camp to use gas instead of bullets for mass murder. Museum curator Julie Golding says such a find is extremely uncommon…
A burial service will be held tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Spring Valley Cemetery on Brick Church Road in Monsey. That will be followed by a memorial at 6:30 at the Museum on the lower level of the RCC Campus Library, next to the bookstore. All are encouraged to attend.
