A public hearing is being held tonight on a proposal to build 290 housing units between Rose Avenue, North Pascack Road and Ewing Avenue near the Spring Valley-Nanuet border. The Pascack Ridge project needs a zone change from single-family homes to multi-family and an amendment to the town’s comprehensive plan. The meeting is being held tonight in the Council Room at Ramapo Town Hall on Route 59 at 7pm tonight.

Spring Valley Pool Re-Opened after Low Chlorine Levels Boosted
A Spring Valley public pool re-opened yesterday after county health officials had closed it Tuesday for low chlorine levels. News 12 says the Spring Valley Memorial pool reopened after a county inspector said it was safe.
Ramapo Challenger Center’s “SciGirls in Space” Program to Talk to the Space Station Monday
The Ramapo Challenger Center’s “SciGirls in Space” program will get to speak with an astronaut who is high above the earth aboard the International Space Station next week. Members of the program are sixth- through ninth-graders from Rockland County and Montvale. The program encourages girls to get involved with science, technology, engineering, and math. The event is being held at the Town of Ramapo Challenger Center, located at 225 Route 59 in Airmont. The doors open at 7:45, the program begins at 8:15 and they should make the connection with the space station between 8:55 and 9:20.
NY Governor Signs “Harper’s Law” Requiring Retailers to Sell Tip Restraint Devices for New Furniture
“Harper’s Law” has been officially signed into law in New York State. The law requires furniture retailers to sell tip-restraint devices for certain furniture. The law is named after three-year-old Harper Fried of Monroe, who died in November 2016 when a dresser in her room tipped over. Her father, Aaron Fried, quickly decided Harper’s death could help others live…

NY Governor Signs Domestic Violence Reporting Bill
Another bill signed by the governor recently was the Domestic Violence Reporting Bill. It allows domestic violence victims to report a crime at any police station regardless of where in the state the incident happened. Rockland Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski says this will make things easier for crime victims…
