Two men, friends from New Jersey, got into a brawl last summer in Pearl River. 22 year-old Douglas Guido of Hasbrouck Heights got three years’ probation and 60 days weekend work-release for fatally punching his best friend, 21 year-old Richard Hess of Norwood, during a drunken fight outside The Saloon in Pearl River. The Journal News said the prosecutor was unable to charge Guido with a felony since it was only a single punch.

Guatemalan Man to Spend 22 Years in Prison for Hillcrest Stabbing
A Guatemalan man living in Hillcrest will spend 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to fatally stabbing a Pomona man earlier this year. Rockland’s acting D-A says 23 year-old Jose Alejandro Icu-Madrid pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing 40 year-old Jairo Danilo Sandoval del Cid. He’ll officially be sentenced in January.
