The Nanuet Fairway Market is closing, its last day reportedly is today. That’s according to a note left yesterday on its doors, thanking shoppers for their support over the last six years. DailyVoice.com says the note cited the closing of Sears and Macys at the Shops of Nanuet for decreased traffic in the store. Employees are reportedly being offered jobs at other stores nearby.

O&R Begins Gas Main Replacement Project in Spring Valley
O&R is scheduled to begin a natural gas main replacement project today on Summit Avenue in Spring Valley. Work will be done 7am to 4pm weekdays. A new high-density plastic gas main will replace the old plastic and steel gas main. Gas service will be periodically disrupted during the project, and O&R says they’ll be notifying individual customers when those outages are needed. The project is expected to last about three weeks.
Holocaust Museum to Bury Ashen Remains of Holocaust Victims in Monsey Ceremony
The Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education will be burying the ashen remains of victims of the Holocaust in Monsey after they were recently found in a box in their archives. The Museum was doing inventory when they found the ashes from mass graves at the Chelmno death camp in Nazi-occupied Poland. The remains are just a fraction of the at least 172,000 victims of Chelmno, the first stationary death camp to use gas instead of bullets for mass murder. A burial service will be held tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. at the Congregation Sons of Israel Spring Valley Cemetery on Brick Church Road in Monsey. That will be followed by a memorial at 6:30 at the Museum on the lower level of the RCC Campus Library, next to the bookstore. All are encouraged to attend.

New City Man Charged in Deaths of One Year-old Twins Expected in Bronx Court
The New City man whose 1-year-old twins died in a hot car while he was at work is expected back in a Bronx courtroom today. 39 year-old Juan Rodriguez faces second-degree manslaughter charges, among others, but his attorneys have been asking prosecutors to drop the case. Rodriguez has claimed he thought he had dropped the twins off at day care before going to work at the VA hospital in the Bronx.
