Do you think you know all there is to know about Manhattan’s bridges? If you don’t, you might want to attend the RCC Senior club’s meeting tomorrow at RCC. Ray Botto of the RCC Senior Club says author, photographer and lecturer, Kevin Woyce, will be leading a presentation on all the different bridges that connect to New York City’s busiest island…

The presentation gets underway tomorrow at noon at the RCC Tech Center Ellipse starting at noon. It is free and open to everyone.

The 8th Annual Senior Fair is being held next week at the Rockland Community College fieldhouse. Rockland state senator David Carlucci says more than 100 groups, including the Rockland County Office for the Aging, WRCR, and others, will be there to provide information relevant to seniors…

There will be representatives from various recreational, health, legal and housing services from the community. The free event is being held next Wednesday, August 28th from 10AM until 2PM.  

There could be more and stronger storms this season. That’s according to Rockland’s county executive, who reminds us hurricane season could still do some damage in our area. Ed Day says “preparedness” is key…

Seasonal forecasters with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center have increased the likelihood of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season to 45%, up from 30% from the outlook issued in May. Hurricane season runs through November 30th. The number of predicted storms is also greater with NOAA now expecting an increase in powerful storms that could become hurricanes, which pack winds of 111 miles-per-hour or more. The recently-paroled, released, and once-again jailed killer of Pearl River teen Paula Bohovesky could spend another year behind bars after pleading guilty to violating his parole by getting drunk in Buffalo. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says Richard LaBarbera is where he is supposed to be, and justice has revisited Paula’s memory…

LaBarbera spent nearly four decades in prison for the 1980 murder. He was paroled in July, but his co-defendant remains jailed until at least June 2021.
