The American Dream Mall by the Meadowlands in New Jersey has yet another targeted opening date. It’s now scheduled to open October 25th. There will be an 8-acre DreamWorks Waterpark, a Big SNOW Ski and Snowboard Park, an Angry Birds-themed 18-hole miniature golf course, an aquarium and more. Retailers include Barneys, Tiffany & Co., Saks Fifth Avenue, and Dolce & Gabbana. Bergen County’s Blue Laws will keep stores closed on Sundays but everything else will be open 7-days a week.

The Rockland Boulders split a doubleheader with the Three Rivers Eagles yesterday. The Boulders lost the first game 5-2, but rebounded mightily in the second game, jumping out in front early in the first inning…

In other news, the CANAM League All-Stars were announced yesterday. Representing the Boulders are pitchers Robbie Gordon and Nick Kennedy, catcher Adam Ehrlich, and infielders Ryne Birk and John Brontsema. The 2019 All-Star Game is being held at Palisades Credit Union Park Wednesday, July 10th, featuring the Can-Am League taking on the Frontier League.

Two members of the Suffern school board’s minority that opposed the majority’s suspension of the district’s superintendent have been elected as president and vice-president of the board. LoHud.com says Matthew Kern was elected president last night and Paul Shapiro was elected vice president. Superintendent Douglas Adams was accused of hiding information from the board in a case involving a staff member and a student.

Some Independence Day celebrations last year got out of hand, as people crowded-out of Rockland Lake State Park were creating their own parking areas, sometimes on Clarkstown residents’ private property. That, of course, sent tempers, along with the temperatures, soaring. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says there won’t be a repeat performance of that this year…
Part of the plan that local officials have come up with is to have the Clarkstown Police post and enforce parking restrictions on local roads in the neighborhoods by Rockland Lake entrances, and they’ll help park staff direct traffic as needed.
