The Rockland Boulders took on the Sussex County Miners in the final game of their three-game series in Pomona last night. Down two to one in the ninth with a man on first, one of the newest Boulders delivered…

The Boulders are off today but Tuesday afternoon at four there’s a double-header against the Three Rivers Eagles. Ramapo PD Investigating Shooting in South Spring Valley

Ramapo Police are investigating a Friday-morning shooting that left a Nanuet cab driver dead. Police say 28 year-old Luis Guaman-Espinoza was found in the back seat of a gray International Taxi shot several times. The taxi was behind the CVS on Old Nyack Turnpike in south Spring Valley. Espinoza was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is on-going. No additional information was available. Millions Still Needed Before Hi-Tor Can Build New Facility

Rockland County government and local towns and villages are committed to eventually having a new Hi-Tor Animal Care Center even though they only have about a third of the funding that’ll be necessary to do it right. Rockland County Executive Ed Day says they have about two million dollars so far, and they still need up to about four million dollars more…

Day says the shelter that does get built won’t be a tremendous facility but one that’ll be sufficient for the county’s needs.

Stony Point Waiting for Governor to Sign Parkland Bill to Sell Golf Course

A bill that would allow Stony Point to sell its golf course to a private developer, who would have to keep the town’s golf course open to the public, is still waiting for the governor’s signature. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says a few of the course’s holes are actually on parkland and the legislation in the state legislature was necessary to make the land available for sale…

The Stony Point parkland bill passed the Assembly and the Senate just before the legislature ended the session for the year in June. Kirkbride Hall would also be preserved under the plan.

Haverstraw Looks for Potential Uses for Old Garage on Willow Grove Road

An old garage in Haverstraw, that residents had been using as an informal drop-off point for items to be donated, has drawn some complaints. Town supervisor Howard Phillips says there are other potential uses for the building, but the owner of the Willow Grove Road property isn’t ready to sell it just yet…

In May, the Town Board voted to take over maintaining the property, if necessary.
