The New York State Assembly passed a bill Wednesday that would allow
people in the country illegally to get a driver’s license. North Rockland
Assemblyman Colin Schmitt voted against the measure known as the "Green
Light Bill," and says it passed despite bi-partisan opposition…

The bill's fate in the Senate is unclear.

The North Rockland High School junior who’s spent the last year breaking
records and taking title after title in track, is shutting it down for the
season. MileSplit.com says Katelyn Tuohy will skip the New Balance
Nationals this weekend in North Carolina, a move Stony Point supervisor
Jim Monaghan says makes sense…

Tuohy still has her eyes on qualifying for the U.S. Track and Field
Olympic trials next year.

The folks behind the Penguin Plunge are holding a fundraiser tomorrow to
benefit two children from West Nyack and Pearl River. 2 1/2 year old Riley
Reynolds has Craniosynostosis, and 9 year-old Kieran O'Neill suffers from
autism and a pediatric-neuropsychiatric disorder associated with strep
infections. Barbara Noyes of the Penguin Plunge says the proceeds from
tomorrow’s "Bowling Plunge" all go to help the kids…

The Bowling Plunge is tomorrow 2-4pm at New City Bowl. You get two games
and shoe rental for 20 bucks, kids 12 and under cost $15, and the top

The New Jersey Botanical Garden Summer Concert series kicks off tonight in
Ringwood. Maja Britton is a volunteer with the garden and says tonight’s
show features a band called “No Fuss and Feathers”...

The concert starts at 6:30 and a $5 donation is requested. On Sunday
there’s a Father's Day Family Woodland Hike at 1pm, where you'll learn
about the area’s plants and animals. It is free, but it’ll be cancelled in

You know how you go into some of Rockland’s downtown areas and see some
empty storefronts. They’re not very attractive. Rand Commercial of New
City worked recently with Nyack and RCC to create decorative window papers
that promote the village in creative ways. Paul Adler of Rand Commercial
says instead of plain brown paper, for example, the decorations might
feature the “Visit Nyack” logo…
