O&R and IBEW union local 503 reached a tentative agreement on a new four-year labor contract Saturday. The current contract, which has been in effect since June first 2014, has been extended so normal business operations could continue, and give the union time to conduct its ratification vote. The terms of the agreement were not released.

Stony Point Man Charged in Alleged Bribery Scheme at WTC
A Stony Point man was among three men hit with felony charges last week in an alleged “pay-to-play" bribery scheme surrounding the rebuilding of the World Trade Center. New York Attorney General Letitia James said 59 year-old Michael Garrison, a former electrical contractor helped unqualified electricians get hired based on his personal relationships. If convicted, Garrison and his two co-defendants face up to 15 years in prison
Eagle Bay Faces Concerns over Planned Development for Stony Point
Concerns over public access to the Hudson River and other issues came up
at last week’s Stony Point planning board meeting regarding Eagle Bay.
That’s the large development project currently being considered for the
waterfront area on Beach Road in Stony Point. Supervisor Jim Monaghan says
there’s also concern about open space…
The Eagle Bay project includes more than 260 condo units, a marina and retail.
AARP to Host Free Musical Event at JCC West Nyack Wednesday
The local chapter of the AARP is holding free program Wednesday in West Nyack. Lou Morris of the AARP says it’ll be a little different than the educational events they usually hold…
The event is being held at the JCC in West Nyack at 12:30 on Wednesday. It is free and open to the public.
Ramapo Officials Meet with Rockland’s Illegal Housing Task Force
Ramapo officials met with members of the Rockland Illegal Housing Task
Force this week to figure out how to bring tensions in town under control.
The meeting was spawned by last week’s New York State Senate Code
Enforcement hearings in Newburgh and fiery appearances by the county
executive and Ramapo’s supervisor Friday on "The Morning Show." Justin
Schwartz of the Illegal Housing Task Force says the meeting was
productive, but they’re being tight-lipped about what they've accomplished
thus far…
In addition to Ramapo, North Rockland state senator James Skoufis and the Committee on Investigations and Government Operations are looking into housing conditions and code enforcement in Mount Vernon, Newburgh and Albany.
