North Rockland state senator James Skoufis, who heads the Investigations
and Government Operations Committee, is holding a public hearing today as part of his investigation into housing conditions and code enforcement.
The investigation is focusing on Ramapo, Albany, Mount Vernon and
Newburgh. The Former Rockland Director of Fire and Emergency Services
Gordon Wren is expected to be among those testifying today at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center. The hearing starts at 9:30 and is open to the public but oral testimony is by invitation only. The public can send written testimony to investigations@nysenate.gov

midnight May 29th and burn for 24 hours at four Rockland locations:
Bowline Point Park in Haverstraw, Eugene Levy Memorial Park in Pomona, the top of Clausland Mountain in Orangeburg, and the end of the Piermont Pier.

School budgets in Rockland all passed by wide margins. In East Ramapo
they avoided a second consecutive year with a contingency budget.
Ramapo Home Where Two Girls Nearly Drowned Hit with Violations
The owner of a Ramapo home where two girls nearly drowned Monday has been slapped with several violations. LoHud.com reports the owners of 2 Sydell Lane are scheduled to appear in Ramapo Town Court on June 17 to answer to the alleged violations. The pool reportedly did not have a gate.
