A South Nyack-Grandview police officer helping with a stretch of the Gran Fondo bike race in New Jersey was taken to Hackensack Medical Center after an accident with his motorcycle on the Palisades Parkway early yesterday. Lohud.com says 59 year-old Mark Acker was found on the center median of the southbound side of the parkway near Alpine New Jersey. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

School Budgets, Elections in Rockland on Tuesday
Rocklanders head to the polls tomorrow for school board elections and budget votes. In East Ramapo they’re hoping to avoid a second consecutive contingency budget with its $241 million budget proposal that’s made cuts to some bus routes. In the North Rockland school district, they’re still trying to pay off the Mirant debt. While relief was not included in the state budget this year, Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says local lawmakers are trying to get it done in the current legislative session…

SUEZ to Meet Neighbors about HQ Plans Tonight
Now that SUEZ Water has dropped plans for two fuel tanks at the company’s new headquarters proposed for the former 27-acre Tilcon site on Old Mill Road near Lake Deforest in West Nyack, the company wants to share the details of the plan with its potential new neighbors. Orangetown Man Gets 16 Months in Prison for Planning DC Attack
An Orangetown man got 16 months in prison Friday after admitting he was planning an Election Day attack in Washington DC. 56 year-old Paul Rosenfeld of Tappan had gun powder, trigger devices and a 200-pound bomb in his basement when his home was raided last year. Rosenfeld has already served 5 months, so after 7 more months he may be released to an in-patient psychiatric facility. Federal prosecutors had recommended he be sentenced up to 30 months.
Ramapo Settles Dirt Piles Case with Rockland County Sewer District
The town of Ramapo and Rockland County Sewer District No 1 have settled their infamous dirt piles case that’s been soiling the town since the last administration. Seven years ago, the sewer district agreed to pay $800,000 to Ramapo to remove dirt left over from an expansion project and gave the town a $400,000 advance. The work was never done, and the piles of dirt remained in Sloatsburg and Hillburn. Ramapo supervisor Michael Specht says the town will pay the sewer district back in installments…
The FBI has reportedly interviewed sewer district and other officials over the issue, though nothing from the investigation has ever been made public.
