No one was hurt after a seaplane made an unscheduled landing in the Hudson River near Piermont yesterday. News 12 says Piermont firefighters brought the plane to shore. It’s not clear where the plane had been headed. The pilot was reportedly the only one on board at the time of the incident.

SUEZ has dropped plans for two fuel tanks at the company’s new headquarters proposed for the former 27-acre Tilcon site in West Nyack, and they’ll be holding a meeting next week to update neighbors of the facility. The decision comes after a crowded Clarkstown Planning Board public hearing last week over the move to Old Mill Road near Lake Deforest. An unidentified group is interested in purchasing the water company’s current headquarters on West Nyack Road, but SUEZ Director of External Affairs Bill Madden can’t reveal who it is…
SUEZ will continue to seek final approval for its site plan, which the company says wouldn’t require any zoning variances or special permits. Monday’s information session for the neighbors of the proposed headquarters will be held at 7pm at the West Nyack Firehouse.

The New York State Senate has passed a local lawmaker’s bill that would make it easier for domestic violence survivors to come forward and file police reports. The bill would allow survivors to report abuse to any law enforcement agency in the state regardless of where it happened. Under current law, victims can only file reports in the jurisdiction where the crime occurred. Angela Rivera of Haverstraw worked on the bill with State Senator David Carlucci after her daughter got caught in some red tape…
The Assembly needs to pass the bill before it heads to the governor’s desk.

You may have seen signs in the north Clarkstown area opposing the Little Tor substation. For years Orange and Rockland has been looking to build a $30 million dollar substation at the southwest corner of South Mountain Road and North Little Tor Road, but Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says new technology may make the substation unnecessary…
In a statement, O&R spokesman Mike Donovan said the company continues to work with Clarkstown and various planning, zoning and regulatory boards for the approval of the Little Tor Substation. He says the multi-year effort has answered all of the environmental, architectural, historical, safety and operating concerns requested.
