No one was injured after a Moving Truck veered off the road and into a New City home yesterday. Clarkstown Police say the moving truck drove through a fence and into the front of a home on West Clarkstown Road and East Eckerson Road. The accident is under investigation.

Area Developer to Discuss Vision for Stony Point Wednesday Night
The Stony Point town board unanimously passed the Patriot Hills Redevelopment incentive overlay zoning district last week, and the developer is looking to meet with the public to discuss his plans for the area. Stony Point supervisor Jim Monaghan says Raja Amar of Patriot Hills LLC, who wants to purchase and develop the property, will be hosting an informational meeting tonight…

Upstate NY Casinos Angling for Sports Betting by Next Year
Sports gambling was legalized by the Supreme Court last year and New Jersey quickly got in on the action. New York is taking its time, though it may be legal come next year. Four casinos, all located in upstate New York, including Resorts World in Monticello, stand to be the only locations in the state to have live, in-person sports betting, but North Rockland and Orange County Assemblyman Colin Schmitt says mobile apps might be an alternative…
Madison Square Garden and Empire City in Yonkers are also looking to get in on the action. New Jersey has both app and in-person sports betting, but 80 percent of the Garden State’s legal sports betting is reportedly done using an app or online.
Clarkstown Officials Look to Find Ways to Help Those Displaced by Valley Cottage Fire

Clarkstown Legislator Harriett Cornell says the Department of Social Services, working with the Red Cross, is providing emergency housing, clothing and more. She says anyone displaced by the fire should call DSS at 845-364-3300. The fire remains under investigation.
Federal Judges Panel Upholds Former Ramapo Supervisor’s Conviction
The 2017 fraud conviction of Ramapo’s former supervisor has been upheld by a federal panel of judges. Published reports said Chris St. Lawrence was also fined $75,000 following his appeal, in which he claimed there wasn’t enough evidence to reach a conviction, that there was juror misconduct, and that his sentence was unreasonable. St. Lawrence began serving his two-and-a-half-year sentence last March.
