The town of Ramapo is giving Easter gift bags to veterans and spouses of deceased veterans on Saturday. Supervisor Michael Specht says at similar events at Thanksgiving and Christmas, they’ve given out about 200 gift bags at each event…

The gift bags can be picked up at Sloatsburg Village hall Saturday morning from 9 to 11.

The Rockland County Health Department is encouraging unvaccinated residents that are at least six months old to go to Monsey tomorrow for a free MMR vaccine. The free shot is available Friday from 1 to 3 pm at the Monsey WIC office at 23 Robert Pitt Drive. Earlier this week the county executive said though the state of emergency was lifted by a judge, residents should get the vaccine, and schools that don’t meet minimum requirements for vaccination rates could face fines. Though some have expressed concern, Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco echoed the county executive in stressing this is not a police issue…

Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day says he won’t be doing a PSA with Ramapo Legislator Aron Weider as originally planned, but he is doing a robocall that will be in English and translated to Yiddush for the Orthodox Jewish community that encourages vaccinations…

Meanwhile, eight measles cases have now been confirmed in Westchester. The cases reportedly involve children under 14 years old who do not attend public school or daycare. And News 12 reports Orange County’s Health Department says a measles-infected shopper visited the Nike Factory Store and Sayki Men’s Fashion Store at Woodbury Common Premium Outlets on March 31st. As of yesterday, there were 173 confirmed reported cases of measles in Rockland. Again, free MMR shots will be available tomorrow from 1 to 3 pm at the Monsey WIC office at 23 Robert Pitt Drive in Monsey.

Orangetown’s former Supervisor, Roger Pellegrini, died Tuesday at his Sparkill home. The Hanneman Funeral Home in Nyack says a memorial service is scheduled for 1 o-clock this Sunday at Palisades Presbyterian Church in Palisades. Pelligrini served on the Orangetown Town Board in 1988 and 1989 and then became supervisor. He was 70 years old.

Residents of the village of Suffern could see their property taxes go up 14 percent. The Journal News reports the mayor’s proposed increase in the $15 million spending plan is due to rising police costs, village retirement payouts combined with less revenue. There’s a public hearing tonight at 7pm at Village Hall.
