A fatal 3-car accident in Ramapo yesterday shut Route 202 near Spook Rock Road for several hours. Lohud.com identified the victim as 54 year-old Randall Adams of Pomona. Ramapo police say there were no passengers in any of the cars involved, but one other driver was listed in serious condition. The incident is under investigation.

Rockland’s Sheriff isn’t happy with some of the criminal justice reforms passed in the state budget earlier this week. Sheriff Lou Falco says the elimination of many of the cash bail requirements makes law enforcement’s job much harder…
Under the new law judges would still be able to set bail for violent felonies and other serious crimes. Earlier this week Governor Andrew Cuomo said the criminal justice reform package would also close more state prisons…
A spokesman for the New York Sheriffs Association, said his group and others had endorsed recommendations made by the New York Justice Task Force, which would have given judges greater discretion on bail, but that wasn’t the bill that ended up being adopted.

Brinks getaway driver Judith Clark could soon learn if she’ll be freed from prison. Clark’s parole hearing was held yesterday and the panel has two weeks to make a decision. Clark is serving life in prison for her role in the 1981 Brinks robbery and murder of a Brinks guard and two Nyack police officers. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has praised her as a model prisoner and commuted her sentence in 2016 to make her eligible for parole.

A group of parents from the Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge has filed a lawsuit against the county claiming the emergency order declared due to the measles outbreak was an overreach by the county executive. According to the Journal News, the families claim the emergency declaration was meant to be reserved for catastrophes or other single events, not a health situation. The Rockland County attorney has said the county was within its authority to declare a state of emergency. The number of confirmed measles cases in Rockland is now up to 161.
