A Carteret, N.J., man was arrested in Ramapo in connection with a murder in Florida. 51 year-old Alexander Martinez is wanted by Miami-Dade County authorities on a first-degree murder allegation. Ramapo police say he also now faces felony criminal mischief, attempted assault and other charges after a confrontation Thursday on Route 45 in New Hempstead. Ramapo police had to tase Martinez to bring him under control.

Haverstraw Man Gets 18 Years Behind Bars for Rape Case
A Haverstraw man got 18 years in state prison yesterday after pleading guilty in December to raping a girl under the age of 13. 46 year-old Nathaniel Saunders also faces 10 years’ post-release supervision and he has to register as a sex offender.
