The town of Clarkstown has enacted a new leaf law and is promising stricter penalties for residents who do not dispose of their leaves properly or place them in the street. Supervisor George Hoehmann says landscapers will also have to be licensed to operate in town…
And though Clarkstown’s Mini-Trans buses continue to operate Monday through Saturday, over all they are running fewer routes than last year…
Prior to the change Mini-Trans had reportedly cost more than 1.5 million dollars to operate and only took in about half a million in revenue.

The field for D-A may be getting more crowded. The Journal News reported State Supreme Court Judge Thomas Walsh resigned to possibly join the Democratic Party primary race, with an announcement scheduled for February 26th. Tom Zugibe won election to the state Supreme Court in November, and his replacement, acting D-A Kevin Gilleece, has said he’s not running for the job. Former prosecutor Patricia Gunning, former Judge Victor Alfieri and most recently Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski indicated they are running for the spot.

Residents of a Blauvelt neighborhood are fighting a popular nearby restaurant they say makes too much noise during film shoots early in the morning and late at night and removed a natural buffer by their homes they say should have been left alone. Nikki lives nearby and called during Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day’s segment on “The Morning Show”s last week. Nikki said she talked to the film company producers who were operating at Bailey’s Smokehouse, with no luck…
Orangetown Supervisor Chris Day said there are rules governing film shoots in the town, and if resident feel like they are being violated they should call the police…
Bailey’s did not respond to WRCR’s request for comment. Orangetown has lately made a push to increase movie and TV shoots, citing the added revenue they provide to the town.
