North Rockland is mourning the loss of the former mayor of the village of Haverstraw. Anthony Bosico died Saturday. He served as mayor from 1971-75 and 1979-83. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a 68-year member of the Haverstraw Fire Department, where he served as captain. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the George M. Holt Funeral Home on Main Street in Haverstraw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 Saturday morning at Saint Peter’s and Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church on Broadway. He was 94 years old.

Rockland Assemblyman Jumps into D.A. Race
Assemblyman Ken Zebrowski announced earlier this week that he is running for District Attorney now that Tom Zugibe has been elected as a judge and the acting D-A has said he’s not interested in the job. Zebrowski told “The Morning Show” one of his goals is to take on corruption at all levels, including illegal housing…
Former prosecutor Patricia Gunning of Grandview-on-Hudson was the first to enter the race when she announced her candidacy last fall. Retired judge Victor Alfieri, a former assistant district attorney and assistant public defender, has already announced his plan to run for D-A.

Last month, Westchester’s D-A said he wouldn’t prosecute people caught with less than two ounces of marijuana. That hasn’t happened here, where Rockland Sheriff Lou Falco says he and many other police agencies have experts on staff to detect the presence of marijuana, though there is no “Breathalyzer Test” equivalent to determine specific levels of the drug in a person’s system……
Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann, whose town became the first in Rockland with a medical marijuana dispensary, says he’d like to make a local law that would prohibit recreational marijuana sales near kids…
Last month, the governor proposed creating the Office of Cannabis Management, which would regulate pot and create a program to review and seal past marijuana convictions. His proposal wouldn’t let legal sales begin until April 2020 at the earliest.
