NY Governor Pushes Green, Gambling and Ganja in State of State Address
New York’s governor gave his State of the State address yesterday, outlining an aggressive agenda that he hopes will get passed quickly with a legislature comprised mostly of Democrats. Governor Andrew Cuomo encouraged legalized marijuana, stronger gun restrictions, infrastructure improvements and a Green New Deal that eliminates the state’s carbon footprint by 2040…

NJ Governor Promises Improvements to NJT

Tappan Zee Bridge is Coming Down Today
The demolition of the old Tappan Zee Bridge gets underway this morning. Traffic between exits 11 and 9 on the Thruway – that’s Route 9W in Nyack and Route 9 Tarrytown — will be stopped for about an hour starting at ten AM today. The Hudson River’s main navigation channel will be shut down, as well, from 8:30 to 11:30. Clarkstown supervisor George Hoehmann says truckers who may not be aware of the shutdown could end up stuck on the highway, or worse, end up on a road they shouldn’t be on…

Controlled Demolition of Maryland, the company handling the takedown of the bridge, says there won’t be any impact on the environment. Some debris will reach the river bed, but salvage crews will clean it up. The explosion will sound like a set of fireworks, and pet owners should keep their pets indoors or leashed during the demolition.
