The Nanuet Macy’s reportedly has an official closing date. Published reports say the store – a fixture in Rockland County since 1969 when it was Bambergers – will close on April 2nd, affecting 92 employees. The first floor of the store is slated to become an “At Home,” a national home décor superstore, in 2021. Macy’s at Palisades Center in West Nyack will remain open.

O&R Offers Grants for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Projects
Orange and Rockland Utilities has $35,000 in grant money to give out for STEM projects — science, technology, engineering and math. O&R spokesman Mike Donovan says successful proposed topics in the past focused on drone crop monitoring, robotic competitions, hydroponics and 3-D printed solar vehicle construction…
O&R will make 35 grants of up to $1,000 each for the 2019-2020 school year to educators at schools in O&R’s service area. Friday Fundraiser to Help RCC Veterans
A fundraiser is being held this Friday to help support Rockland Community College programs for student veterans. In June, RCC is holding its “Run the Rock” obstacle course/fun run. Jonathan Barnwell is RCC’s Coordinator of Veterans Affairs and says Friday’s event will help support the student veterans programs and fund the “Run the Rock” event…
The first “Run the Rock” fundraiser event is being held this Friday at Foggy Bottom Tavern in New City. It runs from 6 to 9 pm. The $45 admission includes unlimited beer, wine, soda, appetizers and pizza. The third annual “Run the Rock” is set for Saturday, June 8th, at RCC’s main campus in Suffern. Recycling Numbers go Through the Roof in Rockland
Rocklanders recycled in record numbers in 2018. Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority chairman Howard Phillips says 25,000 residents used the Household Hazardous Waste facility in Pomona and safely got rid of lots of icky stuff…
The facility also took in about one million pounds of electronic waste.
