A Spring Valley man will spend the next 3½ years in a federal prison after being convicted in February for his role in stealing a Houston, Texas, couples’ IRS refund check. That’s according to The Journal News. 38 year-old Kuljinder Singh Hunjan was sentenced last week in the bank fraud case. Hunjan was nabbed stealing the nearly $3 million tax refund along with two other defendants. Hunjan was ordered to pay restitution of over $4 million and three years of post-prison supervised release.

GoFundMe Create for Children of Alleged Murder Victim in Stony Point
A GoFundMe has been created to support the parents of a Stony Point woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide last month. 36 year-old Colleen Williston was allegedly murdered by 38-year-old Sean Kelly, also of Stony Point. In the GoFundMe, a family friend said the effort would help Williston’s two young daughters, Ivy and Violet, who are both under the age of five.
Three Former Monsey Men Convicted in Kidnapping of Two Children
Three brothers formerly from Monsey face up to 30 years in prison after being convicted in Federal Court Wednesday in the 2018 kidnapping of two children. They were part of a fringe sect of ultra-Orthodox Judaism called Lev Tahor. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams says Yoil, Yakov, and Shmiel Weingarten were found guilty of kidnapping a 12-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl and taking the girl outside the United States to continue a sexual relationship with her adult male ‘husband.’ Williams said they helped foster forced child marriages, physical beatings, and family separations, causing “irreparable harm to children in their formative years.” Sentencing is scheduled for July 9th.
Passage of NYS Budget Likely to Go Past April 1st Deadline

There are some consequences if the budget doesn’t pass on-time. It could mean some state employees, contractors, charities and social service agencies don’t get paid. Legislators also wouldn’t get paid, though the governor would still get a paycheck. The deadline is April first.
Last Two Days of Early Voting for Presidential Primaries Today and Saturday
Today and tomorrow are the last two days you can early-vote in the Presidential Primaries, which are being held on Tuesday. Haverstraw supervisor Howard Phillips says while he’s on-board with early voting for November elections, these for the primaries, aren’t completely necessary…
Phillips also says the week since early voting opened on Saturday has been a major disruption to town hall’s daily operation. Five polling centers are open through tomorrow at town halls in Clarkstown, Haverstraw, Orangetown and Ramapo. In Stony Point, you can early-vote at Kirkbride Hall. Both the Democratic and Republican parties have Presidential Primary Elections on April 2nd. Only voters who are enrolled in either of those two parties can vote in this election.
